Gill-Montague Regional School District Choice Program

At a regularly scheduled meeting on February 12, 2025, the Gill-Montague Regional School Committee
voted to continue to participate in the School Choice Program.


The following new openings were approved:

Great Falls Middle School
Grade 6 = 10
Grade 7 = 10
Grade 8 = 5
Turners Falls High School
Grade 9 = 5
Grade 10 = 5
Grade 11 = 10
Grade 12 = 10

    calling 413-863-9324. to request an application.
  2. Applications for School Choice will be accepted by the Superintendent of Schools and
    should be addressed to:

  3. Applications for vacancies will be processed in the following manner:
    a. The Gill-MontagueSchool Committee, through its Superintendent of Schools, reserves
    the right to select students according to Massachusetts General Law 76, Section 12B.
    b. The Gill-MontagueSchool Committee, through its Superintendent of Schools, will not
    discriminate in its selection of applicants on the basis of race, color, religious creed,
    national origin, sex, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, ancestry, athletic performance,
    physical handicap, special needs, academic performance, or proficiency in the English
    language.
    c. Applications from siblings of students already enrolled in Gill-Montague Regional
    Schools under the School Choice program and who will remain in the School Choice
    program during the school year, by law, receive priority in placement. Such students will be
    accepted first, if space is available in the grade they are seeking. If there are more
    applicants than the number of seats, a random drawing will be conducted among these
    applicants to determine placement. Once siblings have been placed, the remaining
    vacancies will be filled by a random drawing.
    d. The D.E.S.E. requires school districts to conduct a random drawing if the number of
    applications exceeds the number of openings. The selection of non-resident students for
    admission will be in the form of a random drawing when the number of requests exceeds
    the number of available spaces. The drawing, if needed, will take place on August 8, 2025,
    and in the event of unexpected additional openings, a second drawing will be conducted
    on August 22, 2025.
    e. A waiting list shall be kept on file in case of additional openings.
  4. Students accepted to the Gill-Montague Regional Schools will be notified ASAP.
  5. Daily transportation to and from school must be provided and paid for by the parent/guardian.
  6. The Gill-Montague Regional Schools reserve the right to stop accepting any new students through the
    school choice program on December 31, 2025.
