Dear Hillcrest Families,

It was wonderful to have so many families here at school for Parent Conferences this week!  Thanks very much for finding the time in your busy schedules to attend conferences. These meetings make such a positive impact on our home-school relationships.

A few items to note:

  • A very special THANK YOU to Friends of Hillcrest for organizing the wonderful Clothing Swap during Parent Conferences. What a great way to outfit our kiddos for the upcoming cold weather!

  • There is No School on Monday, November 12th in honor of Veterans Day.

  • If you have signed up for the Community Health Center of Franklin County Dental Program, your child will participate here at school on Thursday, November 15th.

  • We have a Lunch Menu Change . . . On Thursday,  November 15th, the cafeteria will be serving Chicken & Gravy. The original menu for that day included Turkey & Gravy.

  • And, another cafeteria update:  Please note that breakfast is served from 8:00 - 8:25. Students must arrive before 8:25 in order to eat school breakfast in the cafeteria.

  • The GMRSD Food Drive to benefit MCSM will begin on November 19th. This annual event is a wonderful way to help support members of our community who are experiencing food insecurity. We will have donation boxes located outside our main office from November 19th through December 14th.  Please consider contributing some pantry items such as soup, beans, canned veggies or canned fruit, baking mixes or cereal. Our first grade students will also participate in the Food Drive by loading up the boxes each Friday afternoon for transport to MCSM.Thank you!

  • Wednesday, November 21st is an Early Release Day.  There will be No School on Thursday, November 22nd and Friday, November 23rd due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

  • Looking ahead . . . please note that our November All School Meeting will be held on Friday, November 30th. This month’s theme is Gratitude. We will enjoy presentations from Ms. Chanda’s preschool class, Ms. Hirst’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Saylor’s first grade class.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend --
