Happy Friday from Gill Elementary School!

Thank you all for a wonderful first week! I have spoken with a number of people who have been impressed by the intangible “feel” of the school this year. Kids seem happy, and comfortable (if a little warm) and there is a strong sense of community. We all feel fortunate to be part of that community.

This afternoon, we held our first All School Meeting. A reminder that the first Friday of every month is an all-school meeting, and that the third Friday of every month is a school sing. We introduced our monthly theme which is welcoming. I encourage you to talk with your child about what this theme means to him/her/them. There is also a good TED talk here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEfUyOpG4b8 that could be good fodder for conversation.

Please remember that mum orders for the PTO fundraiser are due on Monday, September 10th. Pickup will be on Friday, September 14th. Speaking of fundraisers, please see the accompanying form from Stop and Shop that can help support our school if you do any shopping there.

Packets with important information went home earlier this week. Please make sure that any forms that need to be returned are returned as soon as possible. Please also remember that next week is a half day on Wednesday, September 12th.

Finally, a reminder to our Kindergarten parents. If you walk your child up to the school in the morning, please say your farewells by the front door, and do not accompany your child down the hall. We realize it may be difficult, but it does facilitate a smoother transition to the classroom.

Have a great weekend!
