Hillcrest Updates

  • Our spring family conferences were a success thanks to your participation! We are so happy to have our students’ family members and caregivers here to engage in these important conversations.

  • A big THANK YOU goes out Friends of Hillcrest for providing us with so many delicious snacks to help us maintain our energy throughout the conference days.  

  • We can’t wait to see all of our Hillcrest families at GMRSD Elementary Math Night this Thursday, March 21st from 5:30 - 7:00 at Sheffield Elementary School.  The date of this event – 3/21 – is informing our theme: 3, 2, 1, Blast Off! We will definitely have a blast! Please join in the fun!

  • Have you and your child participated in this month’s math challenge?  Here it is: 

 

  • Please note the corrected date for our  March All School Meeting.  It will be held this Friday, March 22nd at 9:00.  Our presenters will be Ms. Sarah Chase’s preschool class, Mrs. Lesenski’s kindergarten class, and Ms. Smith’s first grade class. 

  • A group of Great Falls Middle School 8th Graders is organizing a Clothing Drive to benefit Cradles to Crayons. The GFMS group is called Project 351 and they are looking for gently used clothing in sizes infant through adult medium.  We will have a drop-off box here at Hillcrest from March 25th - April 4th.

  • The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) issues an Annual District Report Card for all public school districts in our state.  Please review this  letter in English or  the same letter in Spanish from Jeanne Powers, GMRSD Director of Teaching & Learning. 

  • If you are already planning ahead to the next school year, here is the Calendar for School Year 2024 - 2025.  Please take a good look and as you are planning trips and appointments, please do your best to schedule those on non-school days.  

 

Friends of Hillcrest

  • Please mark your calendars for the FoH Spring Festival, scheduled for Sunday, May 19th from 11:00 - 2:00. 

Community News

  • Newt Guilbault Community Baseball League is looking for a few more Rookies to fill the roster for spring baseball.  This is open to all children ages 5-8 who would like to play coach pitch baseball in a fun, skills based environment.  This is a travel team with practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the evenings at the Turners Falls fields off of Montague Street with low pressure games against other local teams on Saturday mornings (Northfield, Hinsdale/Winchester NH, Vernon VT, etc) at 9am.  Please reach out to Lesley Cogswell at 413.522.1508 before March 18 if you are interested in learning more or email at newtguilbaultbaseball@gmail.com.  We hope you can join us!
