Hillcrest Elementary School

Friday News

September 30, 2022

Dear Hillcrest Families,

It was such a treat to see so many Hillcrest students and their families at Open House last night! Thank you very much for making the time to visit our school and learn more about your child’s school experience.

A few important news items:

  • At Open House,  you may have seen the display boards showing an architect’s design of the Hillcrest Neighborhood Playground Project. On Tuesday, October 18th at 6:00 p.m, we’ll be hosting an Informational Meeting about the playground project and we’re inviting Hillcrest school community members and local residents to learn more about the project.  Representatives of Berkshire Design Group, the Town of Montague, Hillcrest Elementary, and Franklin County Regional Housing & Redevelopment Authority will be present to discuss the plans and field any questions.  Please consider joining us and please share the news of this event with your friends and neighbors.

  • If  you did not have a chance to sign up for our upcoming Family Conferences (Thursday, October 20th and Friday, October 21st) at Open House, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher to schedule your meeting time.

  • Friends of Hillcrest has established its meeting schedule for the school year and they’re hoping you can attend.  Meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Montague Center Fire Station.  Here are the scheduled dates:  October 11th, November 9th (Wednesday meeting due to Voting Day on the 8th), No December Meeting, January 10th, February 7th, March 14th, April 11th, May 9th and June 6th.

  • Be sure to check your child’s backpack today for the October Lunch Menu and some news from Friends of Hillcrest about a fun October event.

IMPORTANT REPEAT ITEMS

  • And, if you're looking for another way to get involved in the school community, we are always looking for family members who would like to join our School Council. The School Council is a group of Hillcrest family members, staff members and community representatives who work with the school principal to support the implementation of the annual School Improvement Plan.  If you want to learn more about School Council, please call me at 863-7400 or send me an email at sarah.burstein@gmrsd.org

Wishing you a wonderful weekend –
