Friday News

March 25,  2022

Dear Hillcrest Families,

This was our first week in our Mask Optional model and I am pleased to report that our students have been so kind, polite and respectful regarding each person’s mask-wearing decisions. Thank you for your support in encouraging a community of care and respect.

A few important news items:

  • With our Mask Optional model, we’ve noticed a significant increase in students exploring their noses and mouths with fingers, pencils, markers, etc.  We have been providing lots of guidance and reminders about keeping hands away from noses and mouths and about the importance of hand hygiene.  Please be sure to follow up with your Hillcrest student about these topics.  Thank you.

  • Our next Friends of Hillcrest meeting will be held here at Hillcrest, in-person, on Wednesday, March 30th from 5:00 - 6:00. All Hillcrest community members are welcome to attend this meeting.

  • Looking for some weekend fun?  You may want to check out the production of Mary Poppins at Turners Falls High School.  There are three productions – Friday at 7:00 p.m., Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Please see this Mary Poppins flier for details.

  • Please keep in mind that our main traffic circle is a ONE WAY ONLY roadway. If you are driving up that main driveway, you must continue around the traffic circle to approach the parking spots.  Please DO NOT TAKE A LEFT TURN before the traffic circle to access the parking spots.  Also – please give the school buses the right of way by observing their STOP signs and by allowing them to pass before backing out of a parking space.  When walking your child from the parking spots to the school building, please approach the school on the sidewalks rather than walking through the traffic lane.  Thank you.

REPEAT ITEM

  • The Project 351 Ambassadors at Great Falls Middle School will be conducting a clothing drive from March 28th - April 8th.  This clothing drive will benefit Cradles to Crayons. They will be collecting new and gently used clothing in sizes Infant to Youth Large. If you would like to donate to this project, you may drop off clothing in a collection box here at Hillcrest beginning March 28th.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend –

Sarah Burstein
