Dear Hillcrest Families,

Today’s weather offered us the perfect transition to April School Vacation Week!  I hope that you’ll all have a chance to enjoy some fun outdoor activities during the upcoming week.  I am looking forward to doing some spring cleaning in my yard and planting some flowers to brighten things up!

A few important news items:

  • Early this morning, we had an oil delivery to our school’s underground fuel tank and there was an overfilling of the tank that resulted in a controlled oil spill in our staff parking lot.  Our GMRSD maintenance staff, along with a crew from the Turners Falls Fire Department and the oil company’s Safety Team were on site to clean up the spill and to address the overall situation.  Fortunately, this oil spill was contained outside the building and did not lead to any building safety concerns. 

  • If your child participates in our at-home testing program, please be sure to check their backpack for your Covid Testing Kit today.  We strongly encourage you to use this test immediately prior to your child’s return to school from vacation week. And, please be sure to contact our school nurse, Jazmin Miller, at 413-863-2638 with any Covid concerns. 

  • During school vacation week, we will be bringing our traditional round tables back to our cafeteria and all-purpose room for meal times.  Students will now be seated with 3 or 4 classmates at a round table, rather than at individual desks while eating. 

  • We’re looking forward to the Friends of Hillcrest Spring Festival here at school on Saturday, April 30th!  If you’d like to help out at this fun event, please email frendsofhillcrest2015@gmail.com or please join us at the next Friends of Hillcrest meeting on Wednesday, April 27th at 5:00.
