Friday News

April 1, 2022

Dear Hillcrest Families,

April has arrived and brought along some April showers this morning!  In addition to being known as a rainy month, April is also National Poetry Month.  At Hillcrest, I like to celebrate National Poetry Month by sharing short poems with our students as part of the Morning Message that I post in our All Purpose Room.  During the month of April, I will share one or two poems each week.  Be sure to ask your Hillcrest student about this!

A few important news items:

  • We will be hosting our Kindergarten Information Night & Registration event this Wednesday, April 6th from 5:30 - 6:30.  All families who live in Montague and have a child who turns 5 before September 1st are welcome to attend.

  • We are hoping that a couple of current Kindergarten parents would be willing to join us at the Kindergarten Information Night, too. We have found that current Kindergarten parents are a great resource for new Kindergarten parents. If you’d like to volunteer at this event, please contact me at sarah.burstein@gmrsd.org or 413-863-7400.

  • The April Lunch Menu went home in backpacks on Thursday.  It’s also attached to your weekly email.

  • Friends of Hillcrest News:

    • If you’re interested in ordering Dean’s Beans products, please check out the Dean's Beans Order Form for April.  A paper copy of this form also went home in backpacks yesterday.  All April orders are due by April 15th.

    • Please consider volunteering for The Spring Festival. Check out the FOH Spring Festival Volunteer Sign-Up.  The Spring Festival will be held on Saturday, April 30th and having plenty of volunteers will ensure a super fun event!

    • Upcoming Friends of Hillcrest Meetings

      • Spring Festival Planning Meeting – Monday, April 4th at 5:15. A meeting link will be sent out on Monday.

      • April Friends of Hillcrest Meeting - Wednesday, April 27th at 5:00

REPEAT ITEMS

  • The Project 351 Ambassadors at Great Falls Middle School will be conducting a clothing drive from March 28th - April 8th.  This clothing drive will benefit Cradles to Crayons. They will be collecting new and gently used clothing in sizes Infant to Youth Large. If you would like to donate to this project, you may drop off clothing in a collection box here at Hillcrest.

  • Please keep in mind that our main traffic circle is a ONE WAY ONLY roadway. If you are driving up that main driveway, you must continue around the traffic circle to approach the parking spots.  Please DO NOT TAKE A LEFT TURN before the traffic circle to access the parking spots.  Also – please give the school buses the right of way by observing their STOP signs and by allowing them to pass before backing out of a parking space.  When walking your child from the parking spots to the school building, please approach the school on the sidewalks rather than walking through the traffic lane.  Thank you.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend –

Sarah Burstein
