Friday News

August 30, 2019

Dear Hillcrest Families,

Hooray!  We are so happy to have your children here at Hillcrest with us! Our first two days have been filled with welcoming back our returning students and meeting new students and their families.  Our first graders are settling into their new roles as the leaders of our school and our preschool and kindergarten students have all had their Orientation Meetings with their teachers. We are looking forward to Tuesday, September 3rd, when all three grades will be here together.  Here are a few important pieces of news for you:

  • There is No School on Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day.

  • Preschool students will have Early Release Days all next week, with an 11:30 dismissal, Tuesday through Friday.

  • Kindergarten students will have three Early Release Days next week, with a 12:00 dismissal on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Kindergarten will have a full day of school on Friday with a 3:15 dismissal.

  • Lunch is always served on Early Release days.

  • Please remember that students should wear sturdy, rubber-soled shoes to school.  Sneakers are the ideal shoes for each school day and are required for P.E. days. Your child’s teacher will send a copy of the specials schedule in the home-school folder so that you can plan ahead for P.E. days.  Hillcrest students should not wear flip-flops or backless sandals to school.

  • The first few weeks of school are full of new routines and lots of new information for both students and families. Please be sure to reach out to us if you have any questions about school routines and activities.  You can reach your child’s teacher via email or telephone or through a backpack note. You can also call our Main Office at 863-9526 and Mrs. Prokowich will be happy to help you. I can be reached via telephone (863-9526) or via email at sarah.burstein@gmrsd.org.  We are here to partner with you, so please don’t hesitate to contact us here at school!

Wishing you a wonderful holiday weekend --

Sarah Burstein
