Principal Newsletter Aug 29

  • We have changed the time we open our doors for students to enter the building to 8:15.   There is adult coverage to supervise students only between 8:15-8:30.

  • We’re excited to not only say our fifth graders are the leaders of the school, but to actually act on it.  This school year we have three recesses and lunches. The three fifth grade classrooms have been divided up so that each classroom has a dedicated grade they will be outside for recess with and will be eating with in the cafeteria.  An assembly conducted this morning with the fifth grade students explained being mentors: an experienced and trusted person who gives another person advice and help.  Ms. C, our after school coordinator, will receive training to support mediation or conflict resolution, and train any of our fifth graders who are interested in being mediators beginning in January.  We expect our fifth graders to be models and mentors at all times, but they do not have to give up their recess to this unless they want to. Permission slips to be mediators will be forthcoming in January after Ms. C has been trained.

  • It was so great to see so many smiling faces returning to Sheffield and new faces as well!  We’re all excited about the upcoming year, and look forward to partnering with you in this educational journey!
