Principal Newsletter 4/29

School Calendar

  • Next week we have a ½ day for students on Wednesday, May 4th for teacher inservice.

  • Monday, May 30th is Memorial Day and there will be no school in order to observe the holiday,

  • At this time, June 15th is the last day of this school year.

SCHOOL ROBOCALLS

  • Likely on Monday evening around 5:30pm will be receiving a robocall from interim co-principal Bob Clancy. Bob will be using the call system to inform parents for example when we are having ½ days, no school for holidays or full day teacher inservices, and other events. Hopefully you will find the information useful for planning purposes.

MCAS News

  • Coming soon, Wednesday and Thursday, May 11 and 12 will be the MCAS Mathematics assessments for grades 3 to 5. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday May 24 and 25 grade 5 will have Science. As always we hope your child will be able to get a good night's sleep prior to testing, have a good breakfast at home or at school, and have you give your encouragement to them to work hard to try their best.

FUNDRAISER/FRIENDS OF SHEFFIELD NEWS

  • Friends of Sheffield is holding a Hillside Pizza Fundraiser.  Thanks to everyone who placed an order. Pickup will be Wednesday, May 11 from 2:45-3:45.  We do not have freezer space to hold your items after this pickup time.  Please arrange for a friend or family member to pick up your orders if you can't make this time work.  Thank you so much.

  • We are super excited to partner with Bagels N' More to spoil our Sheffield Pride staff with treats next week during National Teacher Appreciation Week. Help us out and sponsor a staff member by donating $5 or $10 to make this a big success! You may Venmo us @Friends-Sheffield.  Additionally, if you'd prefer to purchase an item, be sure to check out teacher wishlists here: https://tinyurl.com/2p97aurk (There are several books lists available).  Lastly, feel free to have your child make cards or pictures for a staff member or bring in fresh picked flowers to brighten someone’s day anytime next week as we spread the love to our Sheffield Pride at Sheffield Elementary School.

Have a great weekend!
