Principal Newsletter 1/23/2020

  • Thank you to Ms. King and Ms. Castro-Santos for a wonderful Winter Band and Art Show last night!

  • I’m excited to share that our cafeteria is looking to reintroduce peanut butter to our February menu, in learning there are currently no student’s possessing this allergy.

  • As we move deeper into the cold and snowy Winter, this is a friendly reminder that winter clothing is needed for outdoor recess.  Please remember to send your student with these 5 items every morning: winter jacket, snow pants, snow boots, hat, gloves and stay warm!

  • The heat in the building has been cool and we learned that while both boilers have been working, one boiler was not heating the water hot enough. This has now been recalibrated along with the thermostats in classrooms.

  • Today, all classroom teachers read a book called Sometimes It’s Grandmas and Grandpas Not Mommies and Daddies.  This is the January installment in our diverse literature readings, offering a mirror for those students who are being raised by Grandparent (s) or other relatives.  The story is told through the eyes of a little girl who’s curiosity and questions give way to comforting and playful exchanges with Nonnie and Poppy. Spending the day with this grandparent-led family, we see that it's not always Mommies or Daddies that care for children, and that's okay!

  • Friday, January 24 is Turn Around Day and there is no school for students.  This is a teacher work day.

  • Our next All School Meeting is Friday, January 31st
