Food Service Guidelines
Gill-Montague Regional School District offers parents the opportunity to select the best meal plan to meet their children’s needs, the family budget and life style:
We are committed to working with parents to ensure that all school age children have adequate nourishment. Studies have conclusively associated proper nourishment with a child’s ability to learn.
Our GMRSD School Lunch /Breakfast Program operates as a non-profit business and is not supported by local tax dollars. Its operational budget comes from daily revenues and state and federal subsidies. It is the responsibility of parents who choose to purchase or receive subsidized meals from our program to stay current with their bills and to notify Food Service of any changes in their income status so that we may provide you with Free and Reduced meal applications on a timely basis. The following guidelines are currently in effect: We encourage you to pay ahead for your child’s/children’s meals if at all possible. Pre-payments may be made by cash, check or on line. For further information about on line payments, please go to our website www.gmrsd.org and click on the MyNutrikids.com link. From this link, you may pay your child’s account by credit card or PayPal. All you will need is the child’s name, student ID number and the zip code of the school. Please contact the kitchen supervisor at your school building for your student ID number and for any other questions you might have to set up this charge account. It is easy to do and you will find it very convenient to maintain.
Turners Falls High School: High School students are responsible enough to bring money to purchase meals with them daily. High School Students are not allowed to charge meals in the cafeteria if they do not have a balance on their account or cash.
Great Falls Middle School: Middle School Students are responsible enough to bring money with them daily, although we recognize that on occasion they may forget to bring their money to school. Should a student forget their lunch money, the child will be fed that day and their account billed accordingly and the parents will be notified by the Food Service Manager/or designee to bring a payment the following day to restore the balance account or bring a lunch from home.
Gill and Montague Elementary Schools: Should a student forget their lunch money, the child will be fed that day, their account billed accordingly and a notification will be sent home with the child. After three consecutive days without payment, parents will be notified by phone (by the classroom teacher, building principal, or food services department) and a Free & Reduced Price Meals Application will be sent home. After five consecutive days without payment the child will be given an alternate meal and milk. The parents will then be notified by Food Service to have their child bring a lunch from home the next day or submit payment to restore the balance account and the Principal and Food Service Manager will continue to work with the family to resolve the issue.
Our goal is to help your family with your payment plan. If you need assistance call the individual school cafeteria supervisor; or if you need to file an application for free or reduced lunch, please request an additional copy of the application from Food Service or your school’s office.
