The Gill Montague Regional School Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Carl M. Ladd to the position of Superintendent of Schools for the Gill Montague Regional School District (GMRSD). By unanimous vote of the nine member committee, Mr. Ladd will receive a 3-year contract to commence on July 1, 2009, with an annual salary of $128,000. The appointment and contract have received final approval from Mitchell D. Chester, Commissioner for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Mr. Ladd is currently employed as Superintendent of Schools for SAU #58 in Grovetown, New Hampshire. Prior to this, he has served in many public school capacities including principal, assistant principal and classroom teacher. Mr. Ladd was the school committee’s top choice largely because of his experience working in a similar size district and his sincere interest in joining the Gill Montague community. He comes highly recommended and possesses a straightforward leadership style that will surely benefit the district, particularly in these challenging fiscal times. Mr. Ladd replaces outgoing Interim Superintendent Kenneth Rocke who has served the GMRSD for the past two years. The school committee wishes to thank Superintendent Rocke for his keen knowledge of relevant issues and strong leadership skills. His dedication to the district and to public schools in general is deeply appreciated. The school committee is very pleased to welcome Carl Ladd to our school community. He will spend time with Superintendent Rocke and attend select meetings over the next two months in order to insure a smooth and efficient transition. Mr. Ladd will also be in attendance at our upcoming school committee meeting on Tuesday, May 12th, at 7pm at Turners Falls High School. We encourage you to stop by and introduce yourself and join the school committee in welcoming our new superintendent. |
