School Committee Vacancy
Shawn Hubert recently informed the school committee that he was resigning his position. We would like to thank Shawn for his service to the district and wish him all the best.
On August 14 the committee voted to begin the process of seeking a one-year replacement. The district is now accepting letters of interest from Gill residents who wish to serve. These must be sent to the superintendent's office by 4:00 p.m. on September 18. At its meeting on September 25, the school committee will vote to select the new member.
By policy, the vacancy will be filled only until the next committee elections in May 2019, at which time this Gill seat will be open to all candidates to fill the remaining one year of the three-year term (2017-2020).
New Director of Pupil Services
Dear Gill-Montague Community,
I am excited to inform you that our new director of pupil services is Dianne Ellis. Ms. Ellis was Greenfield’s director of pupil services for the past two years, a position she held with distinction, performing most of the same duties, in quite similar circumstances, to the work she will do with us. Prior to working in Greenfield, Ms. Ellis was an elementary school principal in Athol for five years. Additional professional experience she has includes being a special education administrator at Mahar and being a clinical therapist. Ms. Ellis holds bachelors and masters degrees from UMass, Amherst, and a masters degree from Antioch Graduate School. She lives in Montague and has had two children who recently graduated from TFHS.
Ms. Ellis will hit the ground running and reports to work tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. If you are in the neighborhood, please stop by and introduce yourself. We will arrange visits to schools and meetings with staff as circumstances dictate. I hope you will join me in welcoming Dianne to our team.
