Friday News

November 11, 2022

Dear Hillcrest Families,

I hope you will all have a chance to enjoy some extra family time over the long weekend!

A few important news items:

  • Many of our first grade and kindergarten students created lovely thank you cards and drawings for our local veterans.  These were delivered to the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home today in honor of Veterans’ Day.

  • Next Friday, November 18th is our November All School Meeting. We’re looking forward to presentations from Ms. Chase’s Preschool class, Mrs. Lesenski’s Kindergarten class and Miss Matrishon’s First Grade class.  All Hillcrest community members are welcome to attend All School Meeting

  • After All School Meeting, families are invited to attend a Family Read Aloud in Miss Matrishon’s classroom featuring a text from our Diverse Books Family Lending Library. And, the Family Lending Library, located in the front entryway, is always open for browsing and borrowing books.

  • Please take a look at the attached PDF which has a message from Ms. Halina Radosz, Hillcrest Adjustment Counselor.  Ms. Radosz is planning to lead some group counseling sessions and she is looking for your input. Paper copies of the survey will also be in your child’s backpack next week.

IMPORTANT REPEAT ITEMS

  • We’re excited to host our first annual Turkey Trot on Wednesday, November 23rd.  Hillcrest PE Teacher, Liz Tyler, has organized a really fun fitness event for Hillcrest and Sheffield students. Please check out the notices that were sent home in your child’s backpack and if you need more information, please call the Hillcrest Main Office at 863-9526. We’re hoping to have lots of family involvement in this event.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend –

Sarah Burstein, Hillcrest Principal
