Friday News

March 11,  2022

Dear Hillcrest Families,

As many of you may already know, our school district will be moving to a Mask Optional model for students, staff and visitors on March 21st.  We will begin discussing this change with Hillcrest students next week. Please be on the lookout for an email from Superintendent Beck with more details on this important change.

A few important news items:

  • We are looking forward to welcoming Hillcrest families to school for Conferences next Thursday and Friday.  Please remember that the Mask Mandate will remain in place during conferences.  All visitors will be required to wear masks in the school building during conferences.  We will have masks available at the front entrance for all who need one.

  • We’ll be hosting Preschool Registration & Classroom Visits on Friday, March 25th from 12:30 - 2:30.  This event is designed for new preschool students and families.  Please be sure to share this news with any friends, neighbors or family members who are interested in enrolling in our preschool program. Current preschool students do not need to complete a new registration for the upcoming school year.

  • The Project 351 Ambassadors at Great Falls Middle School will be conducting a clothing drive from March 28th - April 8th.  They will be collecting new and gently used clothing in sizes Infant to Youth Large. If you would like to donate to this project, you may drop off clothing in a collection box here at Hillcrest beginning March 28th.  Here are some additional details:

    • Project 351 is a Service Leadership organization that brings together one 8th grade ambassador from each town/city in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to participate in a year of service.  Currently, our district's 3 Ambassadors (representing Montague, Gill and Erving) are organizing a Spring Service clothing drive to benefit Cradles to Crayons https://www.cradlestocrayons.org/what-we-do/

REPEAT ITEM

  • At Conferences on March 17 and 18, Yuki, Therapy Dog-in-Training, will be here at Hillcrest.  You may have heard all about Yuki from your Hillcrest student and perhaps you’d like to meet him!  On our conference days, you are welcome to stop by Ms. Halina’s office to say “hello.”

Wishing you a wonderful weekend –

Sarah Burstein
