Friday News

April 17, 2020

Dear Hillcrest Families,

Normally, I would be wishing you all a happy School Vacation Week in this edition of our Friday News! However, I am simply going to wish you a happy long weekend as our remote learning will continue next week after the Monday holiday.  I do sincerely hope that you all have some time to embrace the spirit of a long weekend. I recognize that this extended school closure is challenging for everyone and the days seem to get all jumbled up! Please know that we are grateful for all you are doing to support your child’s learning right now.  We understand that families are taking on all sorts of new roles during this time and as a school community, we want to support you as much as we can. Sometimes that support will come in the form of Chromebooks, Google Classroom, Google Meet and email updates and telephone calls. And, sometimes that support needs to come in the form of a “free pass” to relax a bit and not feel pressured to pursue every single school resource that pops up on Google Classroom! We are here for you and your students and we recognize the juggling act that so many of you are doing right now. Thank you!

You may have heard that we are holding Drive-Up Kindergarten Registration at Hillcrest.  These sessions are taking place on Wednesdays from 1:00 - 2:00 and Thursdays from 3:00 - 4:00. Please be sure to share that information with your family members, friends and neighbors so that we can reach as many soon-to-be five year-olds as possible.  You can check our school Facebook page and our school website for more details. For our currently enrolled preschoolers who will be transitioning to kindergarten in the fall, there is no need to complete a new registration packet. You will simply need to provide updated records from your child’s 5 year-old check-up along with updated immunization records.  Stay tuned for more information on our Registration dates for new preschoolers.

Wishing you all a happy long weekend --

Sarah Burstein, Principal
