These prints were made with string plates. Students
developed ideas for their designs on separate pieces of paper and then
they carbon transferred their image to a cardboard piece which became their
plate for printing. They traced with glue over their drawn image
putting the string down. The raised surface then was inked and printing
was done by putting the plates through an etching press. String prints
give an unusual textural quality. These prints also flash brilliant
colors and great creativity. |
