Happy Friday the 13th from Gill Elementary

2020 is nearly upon us, though it feels like just yesterday we were enjoying ice cream at the start
of the school year social. Now we're enjoying ice at the end of the calendar year!
Next week is the last week before vacation. We have a full week of school, barring any blizzards.
Friday, 12/20/19 will be our December All-School Sing. The 6th Grade Bazaar will be held on
Wednesday, 12/18 and Thursday, 12/19. Friday, 12/20 is Pajama day for Gill Elementary Students
and staff. If you would also like to show your school spirit by wearing pajamas all day,
wherever the day takes you, I would encourage it! Winter recess begins next Friday, 12/20
and runs until Thursday, January 2nd, 2020.
We have a few viruses going around this time of year, and are sanitizing accordingly. Please
remember that kids should be fever, vomit and diarrhea free for a 24 hour period after being
ill before returning to school. This helps keep all of us healthy and happy.
Lastly, as you may have heard, Dr. Sullivan, our Superintendent, is retiring after this year.
The district is putting a search committee together to find the next captain of this ship.
Please see the invitation on the back of this letter so you can add your voice as to what you
think are important qualities for our next helmsman or helmswoman. It would be great to see
Gill Elementary School well represented in this process.

Thank you,

Conor Driscoll
Principal, Gill Elementary School

Dear GMRSD Community,

The Gill-Montague Regional School Committee has begun the search process for selecting its next
superintendent.
The committee has hired the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) to provide
consultation services for the search process.
As part of this process a representative from MASC, Tracy Novick, will host forums with those
interested in providing their point of view as input to the process. The forums will be held
at the middle/high school cafeteria on Tuesday, December 17 at the following times:

1:30 pm Meet with student representatives
3:30 pm Meet with interested district faculty and staff
4:30 pm Meet with district administrators
5:30 pm Meet with parents and the public

In addition, anyone who is interested is invited to respond to a brief written survey about
the superintendent selection process. The results of this survey are being independently
received and tabulated by MASC on behalf of the School Committee. The survey may be found
through the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GMRSD19 Also, in the days ahead,
the school committee will establish dates for a screening committee to review initial
applications and recommend candidate finalists. Once, the dates are established,
we will publish these and invite people to serve on the screening committee.
We encourage as many voices as possible to participate as we engage in this important process.

Sincerely,

The Gill-Montague Regional School Committee
